The hepatitis C virus (HCV) insert encodes amino acids 2287 - 2385 of the HCV polyprotein.
The pSODCF1 vector was modified by removing the small BamHI/EcoRI fragment (thus losing the internal SmaI site), and then inserting a linker that restored the BamHI and EcoRI sites in the appropriate reading frame, and introduced a downstream AflII site.
