Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): SalI/BglII--20.0, 9.4, 7.7, 5.8, 1.3; BamHI--21.5, 12.2, 10.5; BglII-->23.0, 9.4, 7.7, 1.3; EcoRI--21.5, 12.2, 4.2, 3.25, 2.4. Cloned from a rat isolate. The sequenced portion predicts the following restriction sites (approximate kb from a 5' HindIII site 3 kb from the SalI end of the SalI/BglII fragment): BamHI--1.8; HindIII--1.45, 1.76; EcoRI--2.2, 2.4; KpnI--1.9; SacI--2.3; PvuI--1.26. A 1.1 kb HindIII/BglII fragment detects genomic restriction fragments of the following sizes (kb): BglII--5.8; HindIII--2.6; BglII/HindIII--1.1. Derived from a single copy gene that occurs on a chromosome of 485 kb. The complete gene is contained in a 5.8 kb BglII fragment of this clone (excised by a BglII/SalI digest).
